With just two boats on the start line, the course from the harbour was around Bellbuoy and the Safe Water Mark and back to the harbour. Malgas were quick off the start, rounding the breakwater to unfurl their asymmetrical and they were off. With the South West freshening and the gusts becoming fiercer, their asymmetrical over-powered them causing some serious broaching. Walbanger had a re-think on launching her spinnaker and settled for a near-planing run to the Bell Buoy.
