Six yachts participated on Sunday in Race 2 of this 3 Race Series. Race 1 was the opening season sail, the Bart’s Bash. We enjoyed flattish seas with F3-4 W going SW over the nearly 14 NM course. Starting in the harbour, it was a close thing for many of the six yachts to clear the harbour entrance for an incoming ore carrier, with their spinnakers flying. The wind shift favoured the starting boat, Fling, with Malgas and Tikalox II catching up within 5 minutes of her, followed by Struan, Wallbanger and New Wave. Photos taken during the race are already up on the ABYC Facebook page. The last . . .
Or do we call it a pursuit when only one boat finishes? Sunday's pursuit was a bit of a damp squib with intermittent rain and nothing to less than nothing wind resulting in Tikalox II abandoning the race on the return leg whilst Jellbaby hung in there to finish - ooch much Sean and John? How John managed to get a thick ear from the pole that goes BOOM is anyone's guess. The results from Pursuit Race 2 sailed on Sunday 12 October are in. Sailed in a hard Westerly the four competitors had a quick race with most of them completing the course in around 2 hours. They sailed from a harbour start to the Channel Marker, Bell Bouy and back to a harbour finish. The buzz around the teak reef after the race was all about how Jellybaby refused to stay upright for most of the course. Nice to see Whisper joining the fray. The first pursuit race was sailed on Sunday 21 September 2014. A changed and shortened course saw the boats sailing from a harbour start, to the Bellbouy and to a harbour finish. The Channel Marker leg was removed as the start was later than intended. The boats left individually according to their handicap and rounded the Bellbouy to port. A 10 to 15 knot South Easter made for an interesting beat to the Bellbouy and a straight run back to the harbour for most of the fleet. In hindsight - the offshore course paid more than the inshore course taken by Jellybaby, Wild Thing and Tehilah who . . .

The 1st of 2 Pursuit races was sailed with 6 boats at the start. Weather conditions were great with very light winds to start. Given the wind the race was sailed “back-to-front”. Chaos set in shortly after the boats cleared the breakwater, when neither helmsman nor crew could convert True East to Compass for the correct course to sail. To further aggravate the situation the boats couldn’t find the “imaginary” turning marker as they didn’t know how to tell the time! All in all a great day on the water with a good follow-up at the Bitter-End and an enjoyable SAILORS HOUR. Thankfully the . . .
