Nemesis Double Handed Challenge 2015/16

NOTICE OF RACE

1. RULES
The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing.

2. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
The regatta is open to all keel boats with a crew of two or less.

3. FEES
Required fees are as follows: Class – Double Handed. Fee – R100

4. SCHEDULE
Dates of racing:
Sunday 6 September 2015
Sunday 4 October 2015
Sunday 8 November 2015
Sunday 6 December 2015
Sunday 10 January 2016
Sunday 7 February 2016
The scheduled time of the warning signal for the all racing is 09h55.

5. MEASUREMENTS
Each boat shall produce a valid ABYC rating certificate.

6. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
The sailing instructions will be available on the morning of the first race .

7. VENUE
ABYC

8. THE COURSES
The courses to be sailed will be as follows: Around the furniture so as to suit the prevailing wind on the day averaging between two and four hours of sailing.

9. SCORING
The scoring system is as follows: .
Two races are required to be completed to constitute a series.
(a) When fewer than three races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores.
(b) When from three to five races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.
(c) When six races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her two worst scores.

10. PRIZES
Prizes will be given as follows: Various prizes will be available to the value of R1000

11. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.

NEMESIS DOUBLE HANDED CHALLENGE 2015/2016 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

1. RULES
The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing 2013-2016

2. NOTICES TO COMPETITORS
Notices to competitors will be posted on the official notice board(s) located at ABYC .

3. CHANGES TO SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
Any change to the sailing instructions will be posted before 09h00 on the day it will take effect, except that any change to the schedule of races will be posted one week before it will take effect.

4. SIGNALS MADE ASHORE
4.1 Signals made ashore will be displayed at the ABYC Flagstaff.
4.2 When flag AP is displayed ashore, ‘1 minute’ is replaced with ‘not less than 60 minutes’ in the race signal AP.

5.2 Number of races: Six races are planned for the Series.
5.3 The scheduled time of the warning signal for the first race each day is 09h55

6. RACING AREAS
Algoa Bay.

7. THE COURSES
The course of the day will be displayed on the Notice board

8. MARKS
8.1 Marks 1, 2, 3 and 4 will be ABYC small orange buoys .
8.2 Permanent marks laid in the Bay may be used.

9. THE START
Races will be started by using rule 26 with the warning signal made 5 minutes before the starting signal.
Boats whose warning signal has not been made shall avoid the starting area during the starting sequence for other races.
A boat starting later than 5 minutes after her starting signal will be scored Did Not Start without a hearing. This changes rule A4.

11. THE FINISH
The finishing line will be displayed on the course card on the ABYC Notice Board.

12. SCORING

The scoring system is as follows:

(b) When from three to five races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.

13. SAFETY REGULATIONS
Check-Out and Check-In at ABYC Log.
A boat that retires from a race shall notify the race committee as soon as possible.
