Shamrock V

19 February 2014

Shamrock V is a sailing legend-being built in 1930 for Sir Thomas Lipton’s fifth and last America’s Cup challenge. Lipton is the man who donated the Lipton Cup, currently contested for by the L26 class in South Africa. The L26’s will be sailing their National Championships during this year’s Algoa Bay Week.

In this video you can see Shamrock V in action in the Ionian and Adriatic seas. Video shot and edited by crew member Graham Capell and co-edited by his wife and crew mate Kristin Capell.

This magnificent historic vessel is available for charter and was extensively refurbished and refitted over the years to offer guests all the comfort and pleasure of the best in classic yachting. Accommodation comprises of four cabins, two doubles and two twins, sumptuously finished in birds eye maple. Not only a great performer in regattas, she is the perfect yacht for relaxing leisure sailing.

At a charter fee of around $89 000.00 per week she is only for the seriously wealthy, though.
