Wednesday Evening Sailing – Spring Series 2014

Sailing Instructions for the 2014 Wednesday Night Racing Spring Series:

1. RULES

1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing 2013-2016.

2. NOTICES TO COMPETITORS

2.1 Notices to competitors will be posted on the official notice board located at the ABYC Clubhouse.

3. CHANGES TO SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

3.1 Any change to the sailing instructions will be posted before 16h30 on the day it will take effect.

4. FORMAT OF RACING

4.1 Wednesday night racing around the furniture. No racing will take place if the sustained wind strength is above the following: Westerly wind of 30kts or Easterly of 20kts

5. SCHEDULE OF RACES

5.1 Dates of racing: October 1, 8, 15, 22, 29; November 5, 12, 19, 26; December 3, 10

5.2 Number of races: 11 races are scheduled with the best 5 to count for the results.

6. THE COURSES

6.1 The diagram in Attachment “A” show the courses

Harbor Start / Hobie Beach Pier(To cross the extended centre line within 100 meters)/Harbor Finish

7. START

7.1 The start line will be between the General Goods terminal and the Ore terminal. The warning signal will be at 17h40 sharp

8. THE FINISH

8.1 The finishing line will be between ABYC flag staff and the Green Light on the corner of the Ore berth.

9. SCORING

9.1 The scoring system is as follows:

9.2 4 races are required to be completed to constitute a series.

9.3 The yachts best 5 races will be counted towards her results and the rest will be discarded.

9.4 To request correction of an alleged error in posted race or series results, a boat may complete a scoring enquiry form available at the race office.

10. SAFETY REGULATIONS

10.1 Check-Out and Check-In Procedures, sign in and out as pet normal, and additionally you must enter you boat name on the day of sailing on the ABYC Sailing board.

10.2 A boat that retires from a race shall notify the race committee as soon as possible.

11. PRIZES

Prizes will be given as follows: To be decided upon depending on sponsors.
