We enjoyed an extra special prize-giving on Saturday evening, with awards being made for yachting, dinghy sailing and club service! Anna-Mari and her team of helpers had magnificently decorated the Chartroom.
The following awards were made:

Dinghy Sailing Awards:
- IBIS Cup for Lazer 4.7 successes was awarded to Jordan van Zyl (14th in Laser Nationals, 2nd in Dinghy Race Series, 3rd ABYC Inter-clubs)
- PA Park Cup for Lasers won by Charlie Hills (11th Nationals, 13th EC Champs, 3rd ABYC Inter-clubs)
- YELB Floating Trophy for RS Teras taken Luke Weddell (13th Spain Worlds, 1st EC Champs, 3rd WC Champs, 1st Tera Nationals)
- Sparrow Cup for 1st Junior Double-handed awarded to Jenna Bailes (crew: Sophia Hynch, RYC, for 1st in 420 Youth nationals)
- Giles Trophy for most Progressive Dinghy Sailor earned by Emma Lucas (8th on the national RS Tera Pro Leader Board)
- Edith Abbot Cup for Most Promising Junior: Tamryn Bailes (3rd/1st girl on RS Tera Pro Leader Board, RS Tera Nationals: 7th/2nd girl, 5th RS Tera Worlds selection)
- DeVet Trophy for Most Promising Junior Skipper awarded to Jordan van Zyl (Skipper of 3rd place in J22 Youth Keelboats Champs 2016)
- James Searle Cup for assistance to our Sailing School awarded to Roger Lucas & Gordon van Zyl
Keelboat Racing Awards:

- PE Municipality Centenary Cup for the Centenary Cup Series won by Rob Smith – Tikalox II
- NSRI/SAB trophy for the Nemesis Double-handed Series won by Mike Cullum – Malgas
- Haggie Rand Trophy for the Scimitar Series taken by Mike Cullum – Malgas
- C.A.S.A. Trophy for the Small Circle race won by John Tudehope – Wallbanger
- Rose Bowl won by Fiona Clarke – Malgas
- Portnent Floating Trophy for the Noordhoek Race won by Sean Wiseman – Jellybaby
- Edith Pearson Memorial Cup for the Race of Cardinals won by Mike Cullum – Malgas
- Parergon Cup for the Frostbite -Pursuit Races taken by Tony Bailes – Nemesis
- Algoa Bay Challenge Floating Trophy for ABSWeek Division 1 winner: John Tudehope – Wallbanger
Special/Service Awards:
- Barry Jones Memorial Cup for the most active ABYC sailor: Joe Schable, who took Skybird out 79 time this past year. John Tudehope sailed Wallbanger out 48 times and Jerome Putter cast off Seralon II 39 times from moorings this year.
- Algoa Bay Cruising Trophy earned by the Bailes Family, for 4300 miles logged participating in the Cape2Rio (on Ray of Light), PE to Cape Town delivery & Mykonos race Series
- Oddy Trophy awarded to Angela and Andrew Ward in recognition of earning 4th pace at the Hobie 16 Invitational 2016
- Ruby Walker Cup awarded to Leon van Niekerk for his racing under the ABYC flag at Royal Cape, including Chinook taking 3rd place in the Division 2 of the Mykonos Series
- Longworth Cup was awarded to Jerome Putter for his perennial willingness to take novice sailors out on Wednesday evening sails
- President’s Cup was awarded to John Tudehope for his Vasco, Mossel Bay and Mykonos racing, for enthusiastically competing in most of ABYC’s regattas and his service to the Sailing Committee and SAS Eastern Cape.
