Received this note from Rob van der Merwe on Margie as he and family live the dream cruising.
Please pass this on to all my mates at ABYC, hope the ore dust settles soon.
We are in Les Saints, just south of Guadeloup. Not a bad hole to hang out in for a while. At least the water temp is 31 deg C and the vis is 20m. Bit expensive here paying in EURO, but we are not starving just yet. Bit shy on the beer intake however. (EURO 5 a can) that is about R75.00 Don’t complain anymore about ABYC prices. Just drink more….
From Cape Town we went to St Helena – great stop – on to Ascension (I would cross the Atlantic just to visit there again), Brazil, up the Amazon (GREAT experience), up to Lancois – a small island on the Brazil north coast and very chilled, French Guiana, Tobago (No 1 for us in the Caribbean so far), Trinidad (where I did some work), Grenada, St Vincent and the Grenadines –
Union Island, Mayreau and Bequia for some great diving and fishing – St Lucia, Martinique, then Les Saints.
We would go more north, but the hurricane season is here, so will head south again. No point in trashing the boat just yet. Next season the plan is to spend some time in the Bahamas and Turks and Caicos before Cuba …………. (plans be just that).
Having a blast of a lifetime. Kids are growing, Wife is happy, but still gets seasick, and I am painting rusty spots. ALL GOOD
This is sent from my SSB and Pactor modem (how COOL!) But only at about 500 bites per min, so if you email please send short text only messages or leave comments on our blog.
All the Best
ROB, GERDA, ALEX, JAMES
