  • Wednesday 12th December – In Port Challenge 3. Start 17:30 with a bring and braai afterwards.

Every Wednesday is a traditional sundowner cruise day at the ABYC – pop down to the club and see if you can get a taste of sailing (come armed with a foaming refreshment or six for the skipper – to be imbibed afterwards of course!) or just enjoy some sundowners on the deck followed by supper in the Chartroom restaurant and watch the activity in the marina. If you do want to try sailing there are always places available – bring a towel and sensible footwear.

Sailing Results:

The scheduled Noordhoek race had to be postponed due to poor sea state inside Shelly-Bay preventing Noordhoek Ski-boat Club from launching a boat to drop the turning marker.

The Race of Cardinals was sailed instead – Harbour start to Coega East Cardinal to Roman Rock East Cardinal (Bell buoy) down to Hobie pier finishing outside of the harbour. Ronnie Baer started the fleet of six, a lump sea & less than 4knots of wind. The 1st hour the boats battled to get going, with the fleet splitting and some going to the coast and others out to sea. A little after midday the fleet rounded the Coega mark by which time the breeze was steady but had now backed to a SE which helped settle the sea.

Between 5.5 and 6.5 hours out on the water, the yachts finished with a moderate SSW. All in all a good days sailing in very trying conditions.

RESULTS (TBC after corrected time):

  1. Adamo
  2. Tikalox2
  3. Sewen
  4. Wattoo
  5. Sigma 33
  • SeaMole – Retired.
