It’s been a long time since we have seen Lady, Take 6, Sewen, Wild Thing, Chinnook, Valiant, Tehilah, Talisker and Adamo out on a Wednesday evening – hope you can join us this Wednesday!

We have a few  folk wanting to crew on boats today.

As part of ABYC’s efforts to collaborate more with RYC, we would like to invite RYC sailors to participate in the Wednesday 27th Jan’s sailing.  We are seeking crew places for 5 RYC sailors – please Morgan Griffiths know if you can accommodate some of these guests next week.

Get your Boerie at this Wednesday Evening’s Social Sail

Winds and shipping movements remaining favourable, this Wednesday evening sailing will be a race around Bellbuoy, starting 17h30 (Harbour start and finish). ABYC will be sponsoring a boerie roll for the first 50 race participants. Winds forecast 14->9kt SW, 1m SW swell, 19`C.

Members or companies who would like to sponsor the Wednesday Sails on the 3rd and 9th December (approx. R750 for 50 boeries, marketing allowed on Upper Deck) are welcome to contact Frank (fatkinson@greenchip.co.za) or Morgan (morgan_griffiths@yahoo.co.uk).

Wednesday Evening Sailing

We are looking to see how Wednesday evening sailing can be used to boost membership, marketing of ABYC and various incentives to participating boats. We want to bring back the boerie/burger rolls, and the post-sailing fellowship around the Teak Reef. Sailing Tonight

Today looks to be a perfect day for a bob on the briny and you are invited to take your boat for a sail.

Harbour Start: 17h30
Course: Harbour – Shark Rock Pier – Harbour finish
Shipping movements: 16h00, 22h00

The weatherman says that we will have a balmy evening with 14 knot south east, dropping to one knot at 20h00.

Come down to the club and see the magnificent changes and facilities being put in place before the start of the 60th SAP 5O5 World Championships from 23 March to 3 April.

Wednesday Sailing

Today looks like a good day for a bob on the briny – 15 knots east-south-east and 23 degrees centigrade with a 57% cloud cover.

Race Officer Ronnie Baer will start the Pier Dash at 17h45.

Don’t forget to buy the man a beer when you get back – with all this 505 excitement going on we all need to have a few and contemplate just how blessed we are.

Sailing Bulletin

Wednesday Evening 19 November, Wednesday Race Series continue. Race starts 17h40 (depending on shipping), traditional harbour start with the finish in the corner by Ore berth. Weather looks very favourable for a great sail, so let’s get boats and as many bums on-board as possible. Racing will be tight and so expect some serious bantering and line-jostling. Racing will be followed by a good yarn and fellowship up on the deck.

VOLVO OCEAN RACE

Leg 2 gets under way from Cape Town to Abu Dabi this Wednesday 19th in the afternoon.
