Sailing Video: SAP 2011 505 World Championship

SAP 2011 505 World Championship
Hamilton island, Queensland, Australia

Hamilton Island is perfectly located just off the Queensland coast of Australia and at the edge of the Great Barrier Reef. Of the 74 Whitsunday Islands, it is the largest inhabited island, positioned approximately 1100km north of Brisbane and 600km south of Cairns. The Whitsundays is an area well-known for its warm temperatures, protected waterways and line of site navigation – making for the some of the best sailing conditions in the world. This is just one of the reasons we’ve chosen Hamilton Island as our host destination for the SAP 2011 505 World Championships.

Hamilton Island is the only island in the Whitsundays with its own commercial airport making the island very easy to access with direct flights from Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. There is a diverse range of accommodation to suit everything from indulgent luxury escapes to energetic family holidays and a huge range of dining and retail outlets. There has been considerable investment in the island over the last 5 years culminating in a brand new world-class 18-hole championship golf course, an iconic new Yacht Club with 35 luxury waterfront villas and the highly acclaimed award-winning exclusive qualia resort located at the north end of the island. The island can handle conferences for up to 1000 delegates and the team is well versed in managing and conducting large-scale spectacular events including the largest offshore yachting event in Australia — AUDI Hamilton Island Race Week. With all of this we believe Hamilton Island is the perfect location for the SAP 2011 World Championships and we look forward to welcoming you to this event.
