There is training at 10:00 am on Friday 25th September for the sailors intending to compete Wriggelswade; this EC provincials event happening the following weekend. There wont be sailing school for Novices this Saturday 26th due to these preparations and the Centenary Cup races.

Due to the Eastern Cape Provincials in Mossel Bay this weekend there will be no sailing school on Saturday.
We wish all those participating all the best. Please give it your all. ABYC is going places.
The next away regatta is at George Lakes 25th and 26th October. This is a wonderful regatta especially for the new sailors. Ronnie Baer has arranged 7 O9er’s for these sailors. There is great camping and a time to get together.
Please confirm as soon as possible.
Over the past weekend we had great weather and a wonderful sailing experience.
On Saturday morning many of our new sailors were introduced to sailing on the O9’ers for the first time.
Everyone did well and mastered the basics very quickly.
Saturday afternoon the more experienced sailors went out to sea in preparation for the sail past.
The wind was very light but all managed to cope very well. On returning to port, signal station requested we should wait for the car ferry to leave first. Well after a further half an hour we again asked permission to enter only to be told that there was a problem and they did not have a time for this vessels departure. All returned without any problems.
For Sunday’s sail past boats were rigged by 11H00. As there was no wind they were towed from the club to the pier.
A wonderful sight as the dinghies and keel boats sailed past to give the salute to our new Commodore, President and representatives of the city council. This was spectacular.

After the sail past the braai was well attended and many new friendships were made.
The weather for Saturday looks OK for the morning and there will be sailing school.
Please try to be on time at 10H00 for the level 1 sailors. The level 2 and above sailors should arrive by 11H00. They need to practice for the Provincials 4th to 6th October in Mossel Bay.

The Eastern Cape Sailing Provinicials are being sailed on George Lakes from 26 to 27 October 2013.

The ABYC team leaves Port Elizabeth on Friday and will return on Sunday – hopefully with lots of silver loot in their bags.
Whilst down in the picturesque Garden Route, Ronnie Baer will be presenting a Laser Sailing clinic for junior sailors.
